Pokemon Sun & Moon – New Game Mode, Pokemon Revealed
While Nintendo is mostly dedicating their whole day to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, they made sure to spend some time showing off new gameplay and content for Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon.
They showed off some gameplay of the player walking around in the game’s overworld – noting the completely free analog movement and new player character proportions to help with game immersion.
They also showed a new multiplayer battle mode: Battle Royale (seen above). Battle Royale rules:
- The battle is a 4-way free for all battle
- Players choose up to 3 Pokemon each
- The first trainer to run out of Pokemon loses and this signifies the end of the battle
- The game tallies up how many Pokemon an individual trainer has knocked out and how many they have left and determines the winner based on this.
This footage also showed off some player customization options.
Changes to the UI to make the game more accessible by making information (such as move details, effectiveness ratings, and stat changes in-battle) readily available were also detailed.
We also saw two new Pokemon: Yungoos and Pikapee.
