People that are way more tech savvy than I am have datamined the latest version of Pokémon Go and have found coding for a buddy system. In a nutshell, the buddy system will allow the player to designate a Pokémon as a “buddy” and have it travel around with the player (it seems that you will be able to see the Pokémon on the screen with the player). Depending on what type of Pokémon it is, it will appear differently on the screen (medium size, big size, flying, etc…).
More importantly, the buddy system introduces another way to obtain candies. As you walk with your buddy, the Pokémon will gift you candies. The amount of candies that you will obtain is uncertain; however, there will most likely be a limit as to how many you can obtain per day. As was alluded to earlier, you will only be able have one Pokémon as a buddy at a time.
This is great news for all those trainers out there that aren’t fortunate enough to live in an area like this:
Granted it may take a long time, but at least it’ll be possible to finally get a Charizard and a Dragonite. No Snorlax or Lapras though, still going to have to get those the old fashion way.
Is there a Pokémon that you’re excited to make a buddy? Let us know in the comments below!
