Just in case you haven’t had your fill for superheroes with the plethora of live action movies available these days, NeatherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. officially announced the release of Injustice 2 coming sometime in 2017. The announcement comes with a shiny new trailer.
A major gameplay change is the new battle armour system that seemingly gives your DC character of choice an in-game power boost. How else could Batman survive in a heads up fight against Superman?
The trailer also confirms the addition of Supergirl as a playable character.
Even Superman, for some reason, gets in game battle armour. You can’t miss the bonus Batman Beyond skinned armour, which will probably be a pre-order bonus knowing Warner Bros.
The original Injustice Gods Among Us released in April 2013. The story is set within an alternate dimension of the Justice League’s universe. Superman has gone rogue and sets up a new world order after the Joker tricks him into killing Lois Lane. The alternate dimension Batman summons members of the Justice League universe to help topple the evil Superman and his oppressive regime.
Here’s the official press release from Ed Boon, creative director at NeatherRealm Studios,
“Injustice 2 offers the latest DC fighting game experience that expands on the previous title’s larger-than-life showdowns. Every battle defines you in a game where players personalize iconic DC characters with unique and powerful gear earned throughout the game. For the first time gamers can take control of how their characters look, fight and develop across a variety of game modes.
Injustice 2 continues the epic cinematic story introduced in Injustice: Gods Among Us as Batman and his allies work towards putting the pieces of society back together while struggling against those who want to restore Superman’s regime. In the midst of the chaos, a new threat appears that will put Earth’s existence at risk. Players can play from the biggest DC roster ever offered in a fighting game, from classic fan favorites such as Batman, Superman, Supergirl and Aquaman, to astonishing new villains like Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd. Battles will take place across arenas that have evolved in scale and span across iconic locations such as Metropolis, Gotham City and Atlantis.”
Stay tuned for more information that could be coming as soon as E3, 2016!
PSA: If you enjoy animated superhero content I recommend “Justice League” Season 2 episodes 11-12 entitled “A Better World” that originally aired on November 1, 2003. It’s not the same story arc but is similar.
